February Visiting Teaching Gifts are READY!

So if you're new to our store and blog, each month we make a Visiting Teaching Gift that goes along with the message in the Ensign from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We started this 10+ years ago, because we had customers coming in every month asking, "I have to go visit teach - what can I take to give?" We would stop whatever we were doing and help each customer come up with something to give. After this continuously happened for a few months, we decided we should pre-make some for these certain guests of ours. And that is how our monthly Visiting Teaching Gifts all started. I really want to say that we (as far as we know) were the first store to do this sort of thing. Since then, there are many that sell something monthly... but we are a little partial to ours!

Anyways, as time has gone on, the idea has grown and our store has grown - and we are making lots and lots of VT gifts each month! It is awesome to see so many sisters go out of their way to buy and give a cute little gift that goes along with the message from the General Relief Society. Just as a reminder, the following message is printed at the top of the monthly message in the Ensign: "Study this material and, as appropriate, discuss it with the sisters you visit. Use the questions to help you strengthen your sisters and to make Relief Society an active part of your own life." We hope you use our gift to supplement your own visit and lesson as much as possible... but we also know that there have been numerous sisters contacted and blessed by our very own VT gifts left at their doorsteps when a visit could not happen.

One day, I will give you some details as to what the process is each month to get the VT gifts out to each of you!! We love it!

This month's gift is a chocolate brown box filled with the following: strawberry & creme salt water taffy (that is so delish!), chocolate kisses, tissue paper, the message from the Ensign printed on creme with pink and brown accents. The box is wrapped with pink polka dotted paper, then topped with twisted twine, some fluff (aka tulle), a primitive heart, and a tag that reads, "You are the Heart of the Home."

After reading the message, that is what we felt really stood out: That each sister truly is the heart of the home. The following quote is from the message:

"You are the bearers of the children. You are they who nurture them and establish within them the habits of their lives. No other work reaches so close to divinity as does the nurturing of the sons and daughters of God.”

Another idea we thought would be great is to give the sisters you visit a copy of "The Family: A Proclamation to the World." It is always a good reminder of how our families should be organized and what we should be doing. A copy of that message can be found here.

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY ANYONE?

If you're like me, I'm going to be "stuck" at home with the kiddos for New Years Eve - and to make it FUN, we need some ideas, right?! Here are a few that we've gathered for you:

BURST the BALLOONS - Have the kids POP a balloon and inside is an activity for them to do...

Similar to above... have a COUNTDOWN by the HOUR. Choose approximately 6 activities to do, and wrap them up with the TIME of the day to open the package and do that activity! Read below for lots of fun activities to do:

Here are a few ideas for different activities that can be done throughout the night. Each activity you choose will be wrapped up in a container or just with ribbon and have a clock set for the time that it will be opened.

1. Baking – any recipe will do! Cookies, brownies – something to decorate afterwards makes this activity a “craft” and a treat! Cut your cookies out in all different shapes to make look like confetti – frost in all different colors, add sprinkles, and deliver to a neighbor!

2. Pedicures – (obviously for a group of gals) Have someone come and do glitter toes for everyone, or get your own supplies and give yourself a new do! Soak the feet in coordinating colored buckets, have individual supplies for each guest, and break out all the nail polish.

3. Movie watching – open up your bag and have 3 different movies to watch. Each movie is labeled (#1, #2, #3) Take a vote on which movie to watch or randomly draw a number. Don’t forget the microwave popcorn!

4. Flashlight Limbo- Grab 2 flashlights shining towards each other to make the limbo line, turn off the lights, and limbo away! Don’t forget the music!

5. Silly Snapshots – Grab a camera (or more, if possible). Gather some fun props – sunglasses, hats, high heels, purses, scarves – even non-clothing items such as a broom, margarita glasses, pots and pans, etc. Give everybody the assignment of using the props to take some silly photos. Inside, outside, upside down… the more creative and silly the better! After all snapping is done, look at your pics on the TV as a slideshow. This is really fun; even for adults! Don’t forget to print out the pics or get everyone’s emails to send afterwards.

6. Classic Board or Card Games: gather up all your favorites, wrap up with a ribbon and have fun! Set a designated time to start and stop if you want to get all the other activities in.

7. Crafts Galore: Necklace or bracelet making (with food items or real beads), scrapbooking, etc. Have all the supplies ready to go beforehand.

8. Snow Painting: You will need spray bottles filled with water. Add food coloring to make your “paint.” Send guests outside (bundled up, of course) to paint the snow! You could give a prize for the most unique painting.

9. Scavenger Hunt: Hide New Years supplies (horn, hat, mardi gras beads, etc.) either in the house or around the neighborhood. Split into teams and give each team a list of what they need to find. First team back with all the items wins! Another option is to not hide the items beforehand, and have the teams actually knock on doors to find the items.

10. Bubble Wrap Stomp: As part of the grand finale, purchase a big roll of LARGE bubbled bubble wrap (it pops easier). Roll it out on a hard floor or sidewalk and let the kids jump like crazy at midnight! It sounds like firecrackers are going off!

11. Stuff the Balloons: This can be done before your party, or used as a craft during the party. Either buy or make your own confetti (making your own can be fun for kids!) and using a funnel, fill your balloons with a small handful of confetti. Blow them up, attach string, and hang upside down from the ceiling. Just before midnight, each guest is given a pin to POP the balloons! A great way to end the night in a “magical and festive” way. Don’t forget the camera because the confetti falling creates a great scene.

12. Snow Sculpting: Split guests into groups of 2. Each team will have a big mixing bowl… Send them outside to fill up their bowls with snow. Then everyone comes back in and makes a “sculpture” out of their snow before it melts! You can give each team random supplies: knives, spoons, food coloring, etc. to help with their sculpting.

13. Play the CANDY GAME: (You will need at least one candybar for each guest – but more is better; as well as a variety of candy – some big, some small – hard to find candy is great, too. All the candy is set on a table or the floor in the middle of the circle. Also a pair of dice and a brown paper sack for each guest). Have guests sit in a circle. First player rolls the dice onto a small plate or tray. If the guest rolls a 1 OR a 6 on either die, he/she gets to choose a candy out of the middle and put it in your brown bag. (Choose 2 candies if you roll a 1 AND a 6) . Do this until all the candy from the middle is gone. Then set the timer – 5, 7, 10 minutes depending upon how long you want the game to last. Again, you roll the dice and if you get a 1 or a 6, you get to “steal” a candy away from another player. This is where you have to REMEMBER who took WHAT and ask for the candy by name. If you guess right – they have to give you the candy. If you guess WRONG, you have to give them something from your bag. It’s fun to see who “fights” over what candy!

14. New Years Resolution Game: At the first of the party, give everyone a 4x6 piece of paper and have them write down their top 3 New Years goals. Gather them up and put in a hat or other container. After a couple hours, have each guest “draw” a card from the hat. Take turns reading the goals and guessing which goals go to what person! You can keep track of points: 1 point for each right guess.

Christmas Teacher Gift - Glue Sticks

As seen on Studio 5 - another practical gift to give your teacher this year. Grab some glue sticks - the more the merrier! Line them up and straighten so all the words are facing the same way. Use clear packing tape (not the dollar store brand!) and carefully tape them all together. Use two long pieces of tape - one for each side, overlapping them a bit on the top and bottom. Once you know the glue sticks are definitely stuck together, add your ribbon! We added two strips, tied them at the top, and then again so we can hang it on the teacher's doorknob at school. Add your tag and you're done! Cute and practical!

Right click on the tag, copy and paste it into a word document. You can then resize and print from there. We can also print them in our store if you would like!

December Visiting Teaching Gifts!

I am so excited to show you these beautiful gifts! We've used a collection of paper that has creams, browns, and blues combined with glitter to make these a very eye catching gift for such a special season.

One of the quotes we really liked says, "Every sister who lives as a woman of God becomes a Beacon for others to follow..." (Elder M. Russell Ballard) - so we've created a beautiful bookmark that is included in each gift. A picture of the Mt. DIY: Ribbon Chandeliers

Ribbon Chandelier: Such a cute idea to hang over a candy or food table at a party… or make it extra frilly to hang in your little girl’s closet! The idea: get a wooden embroidery hoop. Grab your scrap pieces of ribbon (or new), and start tying them onto the hoop. Again, all different lengths and sizes of ribbon is the key here. You can make it as full as you want… but I would suggest attaching enough ribbon so that the knots are touching each other on the hoop. I just tied knots at the top (no bows here!). Hang with raffia, ribbon, or fishing line! Group in 2’s or 3’s for the best overall look!

DIY: Crepe Paper Banner

Need a simple & inexpensive and fast party decoration?

Make yourself a good old fashioned crepe paper banner!

I'll be honest, when I think of crepe paper twisted from the ceiling, sometimes I cringe.

I have bad memories of faded light pink crepe paper lifelessly hanging... (not sure who's party or when...but it is in my brain!)

Well girls, THIS idea, is not that!

Check this out:

This is on someone's mantle. Huge letters, wrapped in yarn... and yep! The beautiful crepe paper banner hung above it. Darling, yeah?

Grab the crepe paper that you want.

(we have over 20 colors in stock, FYI)

Get some ribbon.

Cut crepe paper into strips - all different lengths, or all the same! You choose.

Fold the crepe paper over the ribbon, staple and you're done!

So easy, huh?

DIY: Paper Plate Balls

Paper Plate Balls

All you'll need is 20 paper plates for each ball...the mini dessert plates work best.

1. Fold the plates into triangles as shown.
2. Staple two plates together with 3 staples.
3. Attach 3 more plates to make a pentagon, then repeat to make a second pentagon. (each pentagon will have 5 plates). Set both aside.
4. Staple the remaining 10 plates together into a long chain.
5. Staple the ends of the chain together to form a ring. Then staple the two pentagons to the top and the bottom of the ring.

You're done!! Spray paint (glitter really makes your balls stand out!), add ribbon, and hang! We have seen these used at wedding receptions, bridal and baby showers, and all sorts of parties!

DIY: Zig Zag Accordion Streamers

This is such an old school idea: use paper and scissors to create your own decorations.
But really - it IS REALLY CUTE!
All you need is colored paper (you choose), scissors, and tape or pushpins!
Here we go...

Step 1: Start with a colored piece of paper in the shape of a rectangle.

Step 2: On one of the long sides, cut a strip about 1" wide (but don't cut all the way through). From there measure about 2" and cut another 1" strip. Continue that all along that side.

Step 3: Turn paper around, and repeat process on opposite side, spacing your 1" strips in between the cuts from the other side.

THERE! You did it! You have an accordion zig zag streamer to hang for your next party!

I love the impact a group of these can make, as well as the simplicity - and the next-to-nothing cost of it all!

It would be a good project for a classroom to do: have each child make one or two, depending on their age, and then the teacher can hang them after school. When the students come the next day, they will see the decorations hanging and making the classroom festive!

(you can use tape, thumbtacks, etc. depending on the surface of your ceiling)

This is a re-post from March, with updated packet information.
We've had a lot of you ask if we have any ideas to keep your kids interested {busy} during General Conference this weekend... so we've compiled a few ideas from around the blog world for you.

#1 - CONFERENCE TREAT BUCKETS - by Brown Paper Packages

Basically the idea is to get some buckets, label them with words you want your kids to listen for, and let them pick a treat when they hear that word spoken in one of the talks! Awesome, huh?

Don't have time or want to spend money on buckets and vinyl?

Use mason jars and print out words from your computer. (be cute & colorful to see the candies)

Have your kids help you color your labels and tape them on!

Also, my little ones can't read yet - so I will probably find pictures of the temple, the scriptures, etc. for our treat buckets! (If time permits, I will post the pictures I find so you can use them too!)

#2 - SET UP YOUR TENTS!

Just as the people gathered to hear King Benjamin...

Think of how much fun little ones would have listening to the Prophet in their very own tent.

Whether you make one out of blankets and chairs, or you have a real tent to set up -

Deck it out with pillows, notepads, snacks, etc. and let the kiddos play make believe!

#3- DOWNLOAD A CONFERENCE PACKET

Well, there you go! Should be enough to get you started at least! Some of the packets are up to 16 pages long... and if you come into the store, we can print out certain pages for you. A lot of primary presidencies have come in and shortened their packets to print one for each of their primary kids.

Kid Friendly Jack-O-Lantern Cookies

This is the CUTEST idea EVER! I found it over at "Bee in our Bonnet" and couldn't resist sharing with you. I am definitely going to add this to my "to-do-this-October" list.

So the basic steps are:
1. Make sugar cookie dough
2. Cut out dough into shapes of eyes, nose, mouth, etc - the way you would a real pumpkin!
3. Bake and and let cool.
4. Decorate with frosting and let dry.

Summer Fun Game Ideas

Here are a few ideas we've posted before, but thought you could use them with the 4th of July coming up!

1. SPONGE TAG: Get a big bucket of water, 2-3 sponges (the bigger the better), and lots of kids...hand over a sponge or two to a couple of the older kids to start out - and watch the kids run around! Works better with multiple sponges so everyone gets wet and has a chance to be "it."

2. MARBLE GRAB: Fill a kiddy pool with water and dump marbles in the bottom. Each player stands in the pool and has to pick up marbles with his or her toes. The person who picks up the most is the winner!

3. BOTTOM-END-BLOW-OUT: Tape a thumb tack to each players nose. Then tape a balloon to each players bottom end. The object of the game is to see who can pop the most balloons without letting their own balloon be popped! This one is sure to be full of laughs!

4. WET 'N WILD LIMBO: Play limbo replacing a regular limbo stick with a water hose.

5. BODY PAINT: Make a variety of instant pudding the night before so that it can set. Give each child (or adult) a paintbrush (fingers work as well) and let them paint designs on each other. Give a prize to the most creative, messiest, best design, etc....

6. MUSICAL TOWELS: Exact same as musical chairs, but with towels outside. You don't even have to have the towels in a circle; just randomly place them in the yard! That way guests are jumping and dashing around trying to land on a towel!

7. PIN-AQUA: Hang a kitchen garbage sack from a tree, basketball hoop, etc... fill about 1/3 full of water... and let the kids take swings! Instead of candy, they will enjoy getting cooled off on a hot summer day. (We tried this the other day in our neighborhood, and it was a HIT!)

Visiting Teaching Appointment Anyone?

Just wondering if you've scheduled your appointments this month yet... Me? Nope! I got a new partner and new ladies and I just haven't gotten into the swing of things yet. But I will!! And I will be bringing each one of them one of these cute little gifts...

The message from the Ensign is titled, "The Purpose of Relief Society."

We have included the full message printed on a pastel yellow cardstock (folded inside)... along with a yummy Easter chocolate treat.

The tag simply says, "Relief Society" and then on the edges, it reads, "eggstra ordinary" repeated all around. Because it is, right!? There are so many aspects about the Relief Society as an organization that make it special.

The sheer polka dot bags vary in color as well as the treats... and you can't go wrong with the treats that are included! Cadbury Mini Eggs, Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs, or Snickers Eggs.

LDS General Conference Ideas

We've had a lot of you ask if we have any ideas to keep your kids interested {busy} during General Conference this weekend... so we've compiled a few ideas from around the blog world for you.

#1 - CONFERENCE TREAT BUCKETS - by Brown Paper Packages

Basically the idea is to get some buckets, label them with words you want your kids to listen for, and let them pick a treat when they hear that word spoken in one of the talks! Awesome, huh?

Don't have time or want to spend money on buckets and vinyl?

Use mason jars and print out words from your computer. (be cute & colorful to see the candies)

Have your kids help you color your labels and tape them on!

#2 - SET UP YOUR TENTS!

Just as the people gathered to hear King Benjamin...

Think of how much fun little ones would have listening to the Prophet in their very own tent.

Whether you make one out of blankets and chairs, or you have a real tent to set up -

Deck it out with pillows, notepads, snacks, etc. and let the kiddos play make believe!

#3- DOWNLOAD A CONFERENCE PACKET

These are THE yummiest treat I have maybe EVER tasted. So I wanted to share! They only take about 20 minutes (if you soften your cream cheese beforehand) to make and then an hour to chill in the fridge. Anyhow... here is the recipe.

These are perfect to take or make for a party - they look & taste so gourmet. For Valentines, it would be darling to add a drizzle of red or pink chocolate on top... don't you think??!

The message encourages us to "look into the past to know how to face the future." This thought is printed on vellum, which covers a window in the brown paper sack. As you lift the vellum, you will see a picture of a group of sisters meeting with Joseph Smith as they organized the Relief Society on March 17, 1842.

As we were pondering what kind of treat to include this month, we wondered what would sisters share with each other back in the day? We had lots of ideas come to mind, but nothing we could package up and share with you! Until we came across a cornbread muffin mix. Perfect! Something to whip up fast (a little easier than it used to be), be filling and warm during these cold winter days.

New Years Eve Banner

This is another post from last year... so I apologize for the banner reading "2010" instead of 2011! But hopefully you get the idea! I think I'm going to do something similar tonight with my kiddos... Enjoy!

Did you see us on Studio 5 today? One of the simple ideas that YOU can make at home for your New Years Party is a simple pennant banner. All you need is some colored cardstock, a few yards of 1" (or wider) ribbon, and some party horns or blowers!

Then follow these simple directions:

1. Choose a color combination (we chose black, turquoise, hot pink, purple and lime green)

2. Print out templates and cut out banners.

3. Lay your ribbon out on the floor and make a pattern using the flags and horns. Get everything situated how you want it.

4. String blowers on ribbon, then staple your cardstock flags right onto the ribbon.

And that is it, folks! So simple. Be creative - you can use rhinestone embellishments on your flags, tie candy onto the ribbon, use long/fat/skinny blowers, etc.

Another idea is to use the Old Fashioned Cone... choose a cute patterned scrapbook paper... staple onto ribbon so each cone is just barely touching corners. Fill each cone with a few goodies. A party horn and an old fashioned candy stick would be so darling!

New Years Eve Party Ideas

This is a re-post from last year when we were on Studio 5 for New Years Ideas...Hope you can find something fun to do for your party!

Here are some of the ideas we talked about on Studio 5 today...

Make a New Years Eve (Christmas) Tree:

Turn your Christmas Tree into a New Years one! Right after Christmas take down all decorations and store away. Get a combination of horns, blowers, balloons, garland, streamers, confetti – and decorate the tree! Keep it up for the week in between Christmas and New Years to get in the spirit! Right before midnight, guests or family members grab what they want off the tree to ring in the New Year!

A FUN PARTY THEME IDEA: Countdown by the Hour

(Use a CLOCK theme to carry throughout the decorations and activities)

-Paint kids faces white, then use black to draw clock hands.

-White balloons (or clear filled with confetti) can be drawn on to look like a clock.

-Have guests bring an alarm clock (and gather all of your own)… set the alarms to all go off at midnight (or earlier, depending upon the ages of the guests).

-Kids can decorate a paper plate to look like a clock. Punch a hole in the top, and hang the clocks at different levels from the ceiling.

To start out the night…

Make an individual party bag for each guest that you will hand each guest at the beginning of the party (instead of the end). Personalize the outside with their name as well as a greeting: “Let’s Start the countdown to 2010!” or “Countdown by the Hour to 2010 starts NOW!” In the bag will be their hat, horns, individual pack of confetti, a champagne glass, a notepad for goal setting, and of course, a treat. A few creative filler ideas include bubbles (for midnight or before), bubble gum (have a contest to see who can blow the biggest), silly string, glow in the dark paint or necklaces, face paint (just for fun), alarm clock or any other clock accessory.

4. Flashlight Limbo- Grab 2 flashlights shining towards each other to make the limbo line, turn off the lights, and limbo away! Don’t forget the music!

6. Classic Board or Card Games: gather up all your favorites, wrap up with a ribbon and have fun! Set a designated time to start and stop if you want to get all the other activities in.

7. Crafts Galore: Necklace or bracelet making (with food items or real beads), scrapbooking, etc. Have all the supplies ready to go beforehand.

December 2010 Visiting Teaching Message

The message from the Ensign is entitled, "Our Responsibility to Participate in Temple & Family History Work."

We have added to the top of the message, "Share the Joy of Salvation this Season - the Greatest Gift of All"

A vintage paper cone is filled with a touch of red excelsior, the complete message from the Ensign, a Utah truffle Chocolate Bar, and an old fashioned picture of the Salt Lake Temple (with the scripture "and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers" D&C 2:2). . The cone is closed with a beautiful ribbon and a hand cut tag that reads, "Share the Joy."

The beautiful paper and temple picture were designed exclusively for Pioneer Party - making this month's gift quite a treasure...We think it turned out beautiful!

the November Visiting Teaching Gifts are DONE!

Each month, it is a huge undertaking to create the perfect gift. Let me give you an insiders view:

#1 Wait for the official message to come out from the Church Headquarters.

#2 Read and ponder what would be creative, cute, catchy and something that sisters will want to give others!

#3 Come up with 2 or 3 ideas to toss around... usually the Queen of VT (aka the owner's wife) will wake up in the middle of the night with an idea. Inspiration, maybe?

#4 Decide on the idea. Now onto finding the perfect paper, packaging, ribbon and treat.

#5 Find a darling scrapbook paper that fits with the message, our idea, and the season. Call to order it and it is has been retired. Or there is not enough stock available.

#6 Search for another "perfect" paper. Adjust our idea to fit a different look.

#7 Order the paper.

#8 Have the design drawn up by the Queen of VT, and hand it off to a designer.

#9 Go back and forth with designer at least 10 times until it is just right.

#10 Send it to the printers with specific instructions and a bribe to print ASAP!

#11 Find the perfect treat. Has to go with the season, match the message or the paper, and we must be able to order enough of it from our vendors. Also has to be the right price.

#12 The treat part sometimes holds us up!

#13 Order ribbon - and have it shipped faster than normal. We are on a time crunch, you know!

#14 Call printer, is it done yet?

#15 Pick up from printer... sometimes take somewhere else to get cut. Depends on the month.

#16 This month, 650 sheets were cut wrong. Cannot use them. Cannot order more - the company is all out. Aaagghh!

#17 Move on!

#18 Buy a corner rounder. Each corner has to be rounded on all 4 sides of message.

#19 Design and print tags. Each tag needs to be individually punched and inked.

#20 Start the assembling of our wonderful VT gifts! Staple the candybar, punch the holes, cut the ribbon, tie together, add tag, add Pioneer Party sticker... whoo! One done and a whole lot more to go!

I actually didn't go into as much detail as I could have... it is a huge process. One that goes all month long. We make them daily all throughout the month and have been known to order more supplies the last week of the month to make sure we don't run out!

We ship out anywhere from 100-200 a month all over the United States.

Puffy Paint Pumpkins

The name alone sounds fun, doesn't it? Or if not fun - at least a little bit interesting! I was actually thinking it sounds a whole lot less messy than the traditional carving. And a bit more classy as well! I didn't realize that Puffy Paint still existed - and it kinda made me smile thinking of the good 'ol days when we used to paint our shirts at girls camp. It's That Time Again...

For a new visiting teaching message:

For the October 2010 Visiting Teaching Message, the LDS church put out the following statement: "The October 2010 Liahona and Ensign will be a special issue focusing entirely on temples. The issue will not contain a specific First Presidency Message or Visiting Teaching Message. Home and visiting teachers are encouraged to prayerfully select their message from the contents of this special issue."

Since each sister is supposed to prayerfully select a message about the temple, we decided to create a Halloween gift to give along with your own personal prepared message. The tag on the outside reads, "The Temple - Getting there's a TRICK, but being there's a TREAT!" Isn't it so true? (See more pictures here).

Inside this little (4"x4"x4") black pinstripe box is a Reese's peanut butter pumpkin (who can resist?) wrapped with a lovely b/w damask piece of tissue, and a creative message that talks about "Through the Temple - 1)The Holy Ghost can be with us always, 2) Our Kindred Dead can Rest in Peace, and 3) We can face the Monsters in our own daily lives" - a cute play-on-words to fit in with the season! A quote from a general authority is included to go along with each saying.

Dance/Date Ideas: How to Ask & Answer

Since we named our store after our local high school Pioneers, we try hard to stock up on the Purple & White supplies (as well as blue for Westlake, red for American Fork) - and part of that "support" is helping the local kids come up with creative/unique ideas to ask and answer for dances at school. So we have a binder full of ideas for them, and recently made a small section of items that they can actually pick up all ready to go and ask or answer that special someone! Here are just a couple of the ideas:

A can (or more) with the words "I CAN" typed out on cardstock with googly eyes glued on.

We also have little eyeball balloons that would be fun to blow up and hang all over someone's room!

Box of Honeycomb cereal with "Honeycomb your hair and come to the dance with me!"

Also cute to add an oversized comb or a package of combs with this one.

And the best saved for last...

"I'll be BRIEF, will you go to the dance with me?"

And make sure to sign the underwear so he or she knows who's asking!

What to Give:

DIY Spa Kit: Fill a fun pink & black bag with fingernail polish, lip gloss, clippers, tweezers, lotion, body spray, nail file and chocolate to give to your guests as they leave. (Most of this can be found at your nearest dollar store to help save you $$$)
Ladies Favorite Things Bag: Before the party, ask your guests to bring one of their favorite things to the party (enough for each person involved). It doesn't matter what it is... just as long as it's one of their most favorite things (and since it's a black and pink party, have them bring something that is black or pink). Gather them all, and place in a black & pink bag for each person to take home when the party is over.
Door Prizes: This could be anything! Jewelry, hats, head wraps, candy sticks, flower clips or anything in our darling pink gable box.
